wow. this was so rich and layered. it reminds me of this thing Reed used to do. he would hosts dinners at his condo for leaders. and he would serve 5 different wines throughout the night and then have everyone guess which was the most expensive. everyone always got it wrong and their favorite wine was always the lower priced one. looking forward to learning more from you on all of this 🎈
I love the walk down history lane, when you talk about the true labor of transporting rare wine and the costs associated with it. Now tell me, what about sparkling wine… that’s one where they have really really worked overtime to tell us to spend more. Is it worth it? Ace of Spades, Cristal, etc… are we really trying to take it there, or is Andre just fine?
No, sadly Andre is not fine lol. Sparkling wine follows a very rigorous wine making process, and they have the same appellation requirements. The traditional method is the only method allowed in Champagne - hence the price. Andre is made in California and uses the tank method, not a horrible method, but unlike champagne is very mass produced with less winemaker decisions - basically the art is missing.

I love that! What a great idea! I’m going to do that at my next tasting.
